You’re very particular with the water temperature in the shower. Too hot and you’ll be off to a burn center. Too cold and you’ll be singing soprano. Well, your water heater is just as particular. The hotter the water, the higher your water bill. But cold water can turn your water heater into a culture tube of bacteria, which can lead to disease. The EPA recommends a temperature of 120 degrees to kill bacteria. Any higher though is up to you. If you have small children, you’ll probably want to keep the temperature right at 120 degrees, to avoid scalding accidents. If you have a family member with a respiratory problem, the temperature should go a little higher, to 140 degrees. There’s a right temperature for you. Call Zurn and we can help you decide.
